Duets by Gemini
Industrial Product Selector Platform
Project Overview
Duets by Gemini needed a digital platform capable of simplifying the exploration of a highly technical industrial product catalog while simultaneously supporting lead generation and sales engagement.
The challenge was not simply displaying products. The site needed to help users navigate complex product options, compare specifications, understand use cases, select samples, and move naturally toward inquiry workflows without overwhelming them with dense technical information.
This build was also part of a broader consulting engagement in which I was helping the agency develop its own internal web development capability. In addition to leading the build itself, my role included supervising, training, and mentoring members of the client’s internal team across a series of related projects.
The project centered heavily on product discovery, guided selection behavior, scalable catalog architecture, conversion-focused user experience design, and the development of repeatable workflows the agency team could continue using after launch.
Rather than functioning as a static brochure site, the platform was designed to behave more like an interactive product exploration and sample request system tailored specifically to industrial buyers.
Key Challenges & Solutions
Simplifying Technical Product Discovery
Industrial product catalogs often become difficult to navigate because the information architecture reflects manufacturing logic rather than buyer behavior.
The platform was restructured around guided exploration patterns that made product discovery feel significantly more intuitive. Product relationships, categories, specifications, and filtering pathways were organized to help users narrow options naturally rather than forcing them to interpret large amounts of technical data upfront.
The goal was to reduce friction without oversimplifying the products themselves.
Balancing Technical Depth With Usability
The audience still required detailed product information, specifications, and technical context in order to make informed decisions.
The challenge was presenting that information without creating visually overwhelming pages. Product layouts were structured to prioritize readability, scanning behavior, and progressive disclosure so users could move from high-level understanding into deeper technical detail at their own pace.
This created a more approachable experience while still preserving the depth expected by industrial buyers.
Integrating Lead Generation Into the Discovery Process
The platform needed to support consultation requests and lead generation throughout the browsing experience rather than relying exclusively on a traditional contact page.
Calls-to-action, inquiry pathways, and consultation prompts were integrated contextually throughout product exploration flows so engagement opportunities felt connected to user intent rather than interruptive.
The result was a more conversion-oriented product discovery experience that aligned more closely with how industrial purchasing decisions actually occur.
The Work
Product Selector Architecture
A major portion of the project focused on designing the product selector and catalog architecture itself.
Product relationships, filtering systems, category structures, and specification groupings were organized into a more scalable framework capable of supporting future product expansion without degrading usability over time.
The browsing experience emphasized guided discovery rather than static catalog navigation.
Conversion-Focused UX Development
The front-end experience was designed around helping users move naturally from product exploration into inquiry and consultation workflows.
Product pages, selector pathways, CTA placements, and supporting content sections were all structured to reduce friction and create clearer progression toward engagement opportunities.
Custom Front-End Development
The platform included custom interaction behavior designed to make technical exploration feel more responsive and user-friendly without relying heavily on bloated third-party frameworks.
Filtering interactions, product transitions, responsive layouts, and specification presentation systems were all implemented as lightweight custom solutions tailored specifically to the project’s UX goals.
Feature Highlights
Guided Product Discovery
The platform emphasized intuitive product exploration pathways designed around buyer behavior rather than internal manufacturing structures.
Sample Request Inquiry Workflow
A custom sample selection workflow allowed users to choose the products they were interested in and automatically generate a sample request inquiry for the site team.
Instead of requiring users to manually describe the products they wanted, the system captured selected samples and sent a structured notification email with the relevant product selections included. This created a clearer lead-generation pathway while reducing friction for both users and internal staff reviewing requests.
Conversion-Oriented Selector UX
Lead-generation opportunities were integrated directly into the browsing experience through contextual inquiry, consultation, and sample request pathways.
Scalable Product Architecture
The catalog system was designed to support future product and category expansion without requiring structural redevelopment.
Outcome
The finished platform gave Duets by Gemini a significantly more modern and scalable digital product experience.
The site transformed a complex industrial catalog into a more approachable exploration system while still preserving the technical depth expected by buyers evaluating specialized products.
More importantly, the project created a stronger bridge between product discovery and lead generation, helping the platform function not only as a catalog but as a more effective sales and marketing tool.
